Biography:Born in London, Dawson Dawson-Watson studied in England and Paris and lived in Giverny from 1884 to 1890. He came to the United States in 1893, painted in New England until 1897, and then began teaching in Hartford, Connecticut. Dawson-Watson also taught in Woodstock, New York, and St. Louis, Missouri. He began living part-time in San Antonio in 1917 before moving there permanently in 1926 to enter the Texas Wildflower Exhibition. Dawson-Watson received the exhibition's first $5,000 national prize and became hors de concours (disallowed from further competition) for the remaining San Antonio Competitives.
