Decorated with cast and applied Ivy, Birds, Bird's Nests and extensive wire and ball work, comprising hot water kettle on stand, hot milk jug, teapot, covered sugar bowl, cream pitcher and waste bowl, of bombe form with round pedestal feet, cast bird finials and ivory insulators, fifty-one cast birds in all, as an example of the detailed handwork, the hot milk pot is comprised of over 350 individual pieces, an excellent accompaniment to either Gorham Bird's Nest or Tiffany Japanese pattern flatware, 1870 through 1874 mark,

AN AMERICAN SILVER FIVE PIECE MARTELE TEA SERVICE
Mark of Gorham, Providence, Rhode Island, c.1905
The service comprises a coffee pot, tea pot, creamer, covered sugar and waste bowl, organic form with chased foliage, flowers and flowing lines, the pots with hinged lids, ivory insulators and blossom finials, hammer marks evident throughout, each engraved with script "WCN" monogram, the underside of the coffee pot engraved "Willis Cecil Nield June 29, 1910". Production records indicate two hundred and forty-two hours making time and two hundred and six hours chasing time. The records also indicate the maker was either Lars or Peter Monsen, and the chaser was William E. Jordan. Marks include the trademark Martele eagle, .9584 standard, H/WY production code,

The undulating rim with folded edges and expertly hand chased floral decoration, hammered surfaces with a satin finish. The Gorham company records show this as a special order Berry bowl, completed on June 14th of 1906, made by George A. Shart and decorated by David Wilmot an accomplished Chaser.
