Red Cloud Mine, La Paz Co., Arizona, USA
In the realm of Wulfenites, those from the Red Cloud are considered among the world's best. This excellent Wulfenite plate is host to over a dozen tabular, orange-red Wulfenite crystals ranging in size from 5 mm to 1.6 cm. These are accompanied by hundreds of tiny, glistening Wulfenite crystals that cover the Gossan matrix. The Wulfenite crystals on this fantastic small cabinet piece have an incredible luster, and all have tapered edges so characteristic of this locality. The big crystals are translucent with some gem areas and what's remarkable is that all of these large crystals are standing up prominently on-edge, so they display perfectly. The crystals on this small cabinet are in exceptionally good condition, with absolutely no damage. The aesthetics and overall quality of this rich cluster are extraordinary. The Red Cloud is considered one of the most important and historical localities in the United States. This piece comes with a custom engraved lucite base. Purchased at Tucson directly from the dealer who mined and marketed the best find in modern times in the early 1990s, Wayne Thompson, in the year he premiered them after the find. This specimen is truly amazing for the size and solidity of the color, not as fragile as most, and very robust in presence, a great small cabinet specimen from this famous find.
