The present work is a study for the debut studio album by the English rock supergroup Asia, released in 1982. The band featured members from legendary progressive rock acts-John Wetton (King Crimson), Steve Howe (Yes), Geoff Downes (The Buggles/Yes), and Carl Palmer (Emerson, Lake & Palmer)-who combined their talents to create a more radio-friendly rock sound. The album became the top-selling record in the United States for 1982, according to both Billboard and Cashbox, and included the hit single "Heat of the Moment." The album's distinctive cover art-designed by renowned artist Roger Dean-was honored by Rolling Stone magazine as the second best album cover of all time.
