    Description

    Frank Lloyd Wright (American, 1867-1959)
Specification Folder for the Mr. & Mrs. Jack Hennessy Residence, 1956
Typewritten paper with ink and graphite
    11-1/2 x 9-1/8 inches (29.2 x 23.2 cm)

The unrealized project was planned to be built in Smoke Rise, New Jersey. It is said that Hennessy and Wright could not agree over the cost and design of the residence. The folder contains 67 pages, which detail the specifications for earthwork, masonry, waterproofing, carpentry, hardware, and other various areas of production. Specifications for the masonry include that the stones must be approved local stones. This harks back to Wright's Usonian belief that native material should be utilized within the building of the house.
