Two Yoruba Verandah Posts
Nigeria, First half of the 20th century

One post with two females, the lower kneeling offering her breasts, surmounted by another woman seated with an infant at front and back. The second with a kneeling female offering her breasts, surmounted by a male riding a horse. Both in good condition, each with erosion and some cracking on the lower half of the female figures from contact with the ground.

Note: William Fagg, renowned African art historian, saw these in the Baum residence circa 1978 and commented that he had once seen them "in situ in Yorubaland".
