An Aboriginal Carved BoardCentral Australia, c. 19th to early 20th century
Carved from dense hardwood a deep reddish-brown color, this exceptionally large board measures nearly six feet in height. The elongated oval form is decorated with a meander of interconnected cross motifs cut with precision to produce a bold linear rhythm. This example has rare scale, fine execution, and strong visual impact. In very good condition, minor chips and losses to extreme ends.
