A Kongo-Yombe Figure (nkishi)
Democratic Republic of Congo, First half of the 20th century

Of typical form, the figure seated on a platform with crosshatched sides, legs crossed, left hand to right ankle, right hand to chin. The large head with glass on white and black painted eyes. The cap in a basketry weave. Large cicatrices on back. In very good condition, single crack on base.
