NOTE:
We would like to thank Dr. Lindsay Stainton for her gracious assistance in cataloguing this lot as an early drawing from Gainsborough's Suffolk period. Its subject, with the winding path, rustic figures, and trees, resembles his early 1750s etching The Gypsies.
