A Complete Nazca Head Scarf or Mantle
c. 400 - 800 AD

The large field of woven cotton and camelid fibers a gray color, one length side with cross-looped embroidery depicting thirty-seven abstract human heads in a variety of colors, with twined brown hair streaming from top of their heads, above a band of interlocking stair-step designs also in various color. The other three sides trimmed in short bands of alternating red, blue-green, and yellow. In very good condition, apparently three heads missing or deficient. Framed and glazed.
