Description
A CHEYENNE BEADED HIDE BABY CARRIERc. 1890
mounted on a pair of narrow wood slats, sinew sewn and lane-stitched in blue, green, pink, pumpkin, and translucent red beads against a white beaded ground, with seven pairs of stepped triangles on the body, trimmed with hide thongs and olive green ribbon, the slats with faint yellow pigment and pencil inscription, Mrs. John M. Hulroy, 93 Green (?) St., Gainesville, Ga
Length: 46 ½ inches overall
Condition Report*:
In overall very good condition. Beadwork intact, but with soiling. Wood slats showing very faint yellow pigment, stains (old stickers?), a couple of nail holes and very minor loss (with adjacent one-inch crack) to the tip of one. Only remnants of green ribbons attached; alternating blue ribbons are in shredded condition. No apparent restoration.
