Some artists have referred to oil painting as sculpture in color due to the effect of the impasto in oil paint. Robert Preusser, who as an advanced modernist was a great experimenter in materials and media, takes this one step further creating a sculpture on canvas, the surface of which more resembles rock and metal than paint.
Provenance: Estate of Robert Preusser
Exhibited: Cambridge Art Association
Estimate: $2,500 - $5,000.
