The Florentine painter Paolo Uccello (1397) was known for his experimental studies in foreshortening (to shorten lines giving an illusion of proper perspective). Before Uccello paintings lacked perspective and looked rather flat.
Uccello's most famous painting, The Battle of San Romano, is an improbable tangle of horses, riders, lances, helmets, and battle gear. In the same manner, this painting by Xavier Gonzalez is an improbable tangle of riders, motorcycles, helmets, and riding gear. He uses Uccello's innovation of perspective and foreshortening to organize this composition.
