    Boyer Gonzales, Jr. showed his work in over 100 major group and solo exhibitions during his lifetime.

    When growing up he took instruction from his father. After graduating college he studied with Henry Lee McFee and Yasuo Kuniyoshi. In 1937 he accepted a teaching position at the newly formed Witte Museum School of Art. After two years he accepted a teaching position at the University of Texas. In 1941 he left the University of Texas to teach at the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles.

    After World War II, Gonzales was appointed as assistant professor at the University of Texas. In 1947 and 1948 he served as the chairman of the art department at the University of Texas. In 1954 Gonzales accepted a position as chairman of the art department at the University of Washington, a position which he held until 1966.

    These six paintings are a series painted from an archeology dig.
