DescriptionROBERT WOOD (1889-1979)
Untitled Bluebonnets, Cabin, and Barn, 1930s to early 1940s
Oil on canvas
20in. x 24in.
Signed lower right
This painting is Robert Wood at his best. In a variation of the typical bluebonnet format (flanked on the left and right by tall oak trees), the red-roofed cabin, and the shed going off of the picture plane to the right, take on a larger role of the composition.
Accompanied by a letter as follows from Tom and Emily Knight: "This beautiful Robert W. Wood painting came into our family in the 1950s. During that time Em and her aunt traveled to Texas; her aunt was in sales. Em fell in love with the bluebonnets during their spring travels. Her aunt acquired the painting during this period, and later willed it to Em."
