    PORFIRIO SALINAS (1910-1973)
    Hill Country Autumn
    Oil on canvas
    24in. x 30in.
    Signed lower left

Autumn landscapes of the Texas Hill Country were a favorite subject of Porfirio Salinas. This painting is a particularly fine example of the artist's work, with much more color than many of his fall scenes. The rock ledge, reflections of light off of the water, and the prickly pear cactus add complexity and depth to the composition.

This painting also comes with distinguished provenance. It was purchased directly from the artist by his dealer in Salado and then passed down in the family to the present owner. The original owners were Jim and Daurice Bowmer of Salado, Texas. Jim was a principal in the law firm of Bowmer, Courtney, Burleson, and Pemberton, and past president and chairman of the Texas State Bar Association. Daurice was the founder of Salado Galleries, and was a longtime dealer and friend of Porfirio Salinas.

Acquired by descent from the artist by the present owner
