    A CASED LOUIS XVIII SILVER GILT AND EBONY THREE-PIECE COFFEE SET
    Jean-Baptiste-Claude Odiot, Paris, France, circa 1820
    Marks: (Greek doctor's head 1), (warrior head), JBCO with bellows
    14 x 9-1/2 x 5-1/4 inches coffee pot (35.6 x 24.1 x 13.3 cm)

    The baluster form coffee pot with spreading pedestal foot, cast palmette border to foot, shoulder and underside of rim, spout with dog head finial, rosette band and palmette motif, scrolled ebony handle with satyr mask, banded rosette, palmette and acanthus leaf decoration, the body with cast and applied maenad figures, one of a female with pineapple topped staff and cup, the other a male with panther skin and staff, the flat lid with palmette finial and gadrooned border, the base and lower body with etched addorsed palmette decoration; matching cream ewer with cast and applied figures of Hygieia and Eros to the sides and a wreathed mask below the spout; the covered sugar bowl of volute krater form with cast and applied figures of baby Dionysus on a panther and Cupid on a lion; in original fitted traveling case.
