A J.D.Schleissner & Söhne German Silver and Acid-Etched Glass Covered Bowl with Ship Finial, Hanau, Germany, late 19th centuryMarks: (pineapple), 800, (scythe), 425
13-3/4 inches high (34.9 cm)
The covered glass bowl with lid headed by a silver ship-form finial, below to scrolled and foliate lattice work, lid acid-etched with continuous floral garland, body having silver overlay to rim and wreath handles, bowl acid-etched with scenes of flying birds, garlands and bouquet baskets, lower bowl with lobed sections, standard with reticulated silver gating to conical base.
Condition Report*:
Miniscule fleabites to underside rim, some bending to reticulated decoration, bending to ship's mast, sticker residue, chipping to glass stem fixture, pin denting to silver overlay, some cracking to reticulated gating, warping and sliver of separation to base, with surface scratches commensurate with age, polishing and use.
