    The two boxes one of rectangular form with engraved scrollwork to lid surrounding central cartouche engraved with sardines, reticulated lower plate raised on four bracket ball-and-claw feet; the other of rounded form with machined texture throughout, lid engraved with heraldic crest and motto NOLUS PERSEVONS, interior with cobalt glass liner, with beaded trim to rims. Both were favorites of Shirley Temple Black and displayed in her living room.

    Sardine server was likely manufactured with glass liner (now absent from the lot), rubbing to plate to sardine box, minor fleabiting and flake missing to cobalt glass liner, light warping of lower rim and lid rim to rounded dish, otherwise with wear commensurate with age, polishing, and use.
