    The monumental centerpiece on tapered circular base set with twelve multi-colored enamel cabochons below scrolled and lobed step to columnar support of three kneeling mermaids below shells interspersed by dolphin heads on socle emblazoned with three cartouches with blue ground pennants emblazoned with Royal Crown above shield with lion rampant, supporting hemispherical bowl with stylized strapwork surrounding shaped cartouches outlined in shaded enamel, the bowl supported by three scrolled supports wrapped and terminating with winged mermaids.

    This tour-de-force of Art Nouveau silver bears the pennants of His Majesty's Yacht Britannia which was originally commissioned in 1893 by Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII. Designed by the Glasgow naval architect George Lennox Watson and built at the D&W Henderson Yard on the River Clyde, the Britannia became one of the most celebrated racing yachts of the age.
