    Founded on November 12, 1903, the Russian Wolfhound Club of America's stated goal was "to place the Russian Wolfhound, both as a working dog and as a chien de luxe, first in popular esteem among the larger breeds." As such, strict breeding standards were adopted in 1905, which were rewarded by presentation of the President's Cup at the annual Westminster Kennel Club and Long Island Kennel Club shows.
