A Samuel Kirk Silver Repoussé Coffee Pot, Baltimore, Maryland, circa 1830-1846
    Marks: (SK), (11/12), S. Kirk & Son, 11 OZ
    11-1/2 inches high (29.2 cm)
    48.49 troy ounces

The coffee pot of baluster form with curved handle, floral lid having blossoming finial, repoussé scrollwork and foliate motif throughout, spout with mounted shell pattern and figurehead at joint with bird-form opening, acanthus leaf thumbmount to handle, raised on conforming circular base, monogrammed ONB to neck.

Note: This piece bears an interesting pair of marks which indicates this piece's creation by Samuel Kirk himself in the 1830-1846 period by the marks SK in a rectangular lozenge accompanied by a 11/12 silver content mark. A later period mark for the S. Kirk and Son firm, circa 1890-1896 is observed in concert with the older marks. This pot was likely part of old, unsold stock that was rebranded and sold during a later era.

    Condition Report*:

Repair and losses to ivory insulator, lid rim with minor dents and warping, minor warping to base cuasing pot to sit nearly flush on flat surface, handle with adhesive residue, scattered nicks, with surface scratches commensurate with age, polishing and use.
