Note: These pieces were made from the original dies of John Polhamus (active 1833-1874) who originally introduced this pattern in 1865. Upon his departure from the silver trade, his dies came into the possession of George Shiebler, who continued to produce a number of Polhamus' older patterns. Polhamus did not originally craft dinner or tea knives in this pattern, only master butter knives with flat handles. The knives contained in this set are George Shiebler's interpretation of those knife variations. Shiebler also produced similar "Homeric" and "Etruscan" medallion place settings during the era of this lot's creation.

The nameplate on the top of the case is attributed to Georg Jensen, and contains a quintessential Jensen ornament identical to his "Blossom" pattern.

    Estimate: $20,000 - $30,000.
