    AN AMERICAN SILVER AND SILVER GILT ICE SPOON
    Gorham Manufacturing Co., Providence, Rhode Island, circa 1871
    Marks: (lion-anchor-G), STERLING
    9-3/4 inches long (24.8 cm)
    2.82 troy ounces

    The Collection of Dr. William P. Hood, Jr.

    LITERATURE:
    W.P. Hood, Jr., J.R. Olson, and C.S. Curb, "Gorham's Japanese Flatware Pattern," The Magazine Antiques, September 2007, pp. 104-111, fig. 11.

    In the Japanese pattern, the terminal with a chrysanthemum flower above a bird in flight holding a flowering sprig in its beak (motif 5) with gilt highlights, the gilt bowl with engraved stylized floral decoration.
