    A Tane Orfebres French-Inspired Silver Wine Cooler with Cattail and Spaniels' Head Motif, Mexico City, Mexico, 20th century
    Marks to underside: TANE, (eagle-32), HECHO EN MEXICO, STERLING, 0.925, JMS
    Footed rim engraved: THOMAS GERMAIN 1745; RUSSELL MARKER, 1962
    9-1/2 h x 11-3/4 w x 8-7/8 d inches (24.1 x 29.8 x 22.5 cm)
    113.75 troy ounces

    PROVENANCE:
    Russell Earl Marker (1902-1995);
    Private collection.
    The cooler's design is after an example formerly in the Ortiz Collection and in the style of François-Thomas Germain.

    For the mate to this cooler reference: Sotheby's, New York, 19th Century Furniture and Decorative Arts, 24 October 2012, lot 157.
    Note: The JMS mark is attributed to wares possibly crafted by José Marmolejo.
