    Description

    A RUSSIAN SILVER GILT AND SHADED ENAMEL POSY HOLDER
    Maker unknown, probably Moscow, Russia, circa 1890
    Marks: DSh (in Cyrillic)
    5-7/8 x 3-1/8 inches diameter (14.9 x 7.9 cm)
    6.9 ounces (gross)

    The posy holder with stem mechanism that opens by finial button to form tripod base, octagonal bell with panels outlined in silver gilt roping, color of panel alternates between yellow-green and blue enamel ground with shaded enamel floral designs, stepped concave neck to stem of six lobes alternating between blue and violet ground with shaded enamel foliate design, chain at neck fastened to pin that pierces bell, secured with spring closure, protective tip cover at opposite panel.
