Description
A Plateria Azteca Silver Lazy Susan for Hector Aguilar, Taxco, Mexico, 1949-1952Marks: STERLING, (Eagle-31), 1706, PLATERIA AZTECA
18 inches high x 24-1/2 inches diameter (45.7 x 62.2 cm)
240.35 troy ounces (excluding base in excess of 20 lbs with internal non-silver fittings)
The lot having rounded revolving frame raised on stepped pedestal, four wooden handles to body, drain plug to underside, applied molded foliate trim to deck and edges of serving pieces, baluster-form shakers between entree dishes, urn-form open salt cellars between entree dishes, lidded entree dishes spaced between four quadrants, ovoid foliate handles to lids, central lidded tureen and spoon with monogram NCV.

According to Bille Hougart's book, The Little Book of Mexican Silver Trade and Hallmarks: Hecho en Mexico, Plateria Azteca's use of Hector Aguilar's eagle 31 mark was to be restricted to items manufactured on behalf of Hector Aguilar. Hougart states: "Aguilar also contracted with Horacio de la Parra's Plateria Azteca to produce hollowware. The "Azteca" items are marked with eagle 9 or 31 and a design or production number."
Note: Interior of base fitted with copper arms providing support to deck, and central copper standard fitted with steel washer and bolt below ball bearings. Weight of base exceeds 20lbs. Body is sterling with copper and steel bolt elements to interior.

Warping to bases of shaker, shakers caps stuck in place, some pitting to holes of shakers, bases of salt cellars bent, scattered denting to entree lids and handles, scattered denting to entree bowls, denting to tureen and base, denting to base, bending to handles, paint loss to handles, ball bearings need lubrication, otherwise good condition with surface scratches commensurate with age and use.
