Gorham: AN AMERICAN MIXED METAL JAPANESE STYLE FRUIT SERVICE (Mark of Gorham, Providence, Rhode Island)

A twenty-two piece boxed set, missing two forks, according to Charles Carpenter, 'the Japanese prototypes for Gorham's Japanese fruit knives were the small Kogatama knives with removable push-on handles called 'kodzuka', the handles in this set are silver and bronze with varying factory patinas with gold, silver and copper highlights throughout the set, each knife blade bright cut engraved by hand, the blades and reverse of tines marked 'sterling 5' with the Gorham trademark, in the original factory lined and decorated box, the embossed logo 'Gorham sterling silver, Union Square' still visible in the upper left hand corner, marked on blades and reverse of tines
