5-7/8 inches long (14.9 cm)

Spoon with gilt washed bowl engraved with Native American motifs, figural stem and terminal depicting dancing chief.

Tiffany's American Indian pattern is an extremely uncommon setting whose population is known to include at least one full dinner service, commissioned in the 1890's by William Randolph Hearst. The multi-motif pattern featured twelve terminal iterations depicting Native American dancers and buffalo. The design was drafted by Charles T. Grosjean and inspired by "Caitlin's Illustrations of North American Indians" and "Objects from the National Museum, Washington, D.C.," according to surviving literature in Tiffany's archives.
