A Thirteen Piece American Special Ordered Medallion Pattern Partial Gilt Silver Dessert Set, attributed to George Shiebler, New York, New York, designed 1880Marks: STERLING, C

The set consisting of twelve hand-hammered spoons and serving piece, spoons with authentic Greek denarii coin terminals to handles, flat stems with crosshatching that taper to twisted form, with hand-hammered gilt bowls, serving piece with authentic Syracusian coin terminal to handle, hammered stem, to hammered and gilt blade.
Note: This set's aesthetic derives from other known variants made by Shiebler. Numerous similarities exist which would suggest manufacture by Shiebler including stylized hammered bowls and bodies, crosshatching, and the inclusion of neoclassical motifs to terminals. Lot is encased in custom Gorham leather box, embossed with Neoclassical frieze strip to lid.

Condition Report*:
Good condition with surface scratches commensurate with age and use. Custom case diplays considerable wear to exterior.
