    The vase in classical urn-form with stepped lip, collar frieze with repoussé floral bursts, conforming botanical repoussé decoration to the body, central ground with inscription TO CHRISTIAN AND HELENA, IN RECOLLECTION OF THEIR SILVER WEDDING, FROM THEIR AFFECTIONATE MAMA, VICTORIA RI, July 5th 1891, reeded foliate handles terminating on leaf mounts to the sides, ribbed lower column to circular base with radiating leaf and bulb decoration, terminating with ribbed trim on short circular plinth.

    Princess Helena Augusta Victoria and Prince Frederick Christian Charles Augustus, Duke of Schleswig-Holstein, married on July 5, 1866 in the private royal chapel at Windsor Castle, in the county of Berkshire. They were both the great great grandchildren of Frederick, Prince of Wales (father of George III of the United Kingdom and Caroline Mathilde, Queen of Denmark). The two were married for 51 years until Prince Christian's passing in 1917, followed by Princess Helena in 1923.

    Condition Report*: Very light nicking to rim and rim of base, otherwise good condition with surface scratches commensurate with age, polishing, and use. Note: the base of the vase unscrews to reveal a bronze disc to the interior, which gives strength and stability to the base. The lot weighs 44.7 troy ounces excluding the bronze weight; the lot weighs 68.7 troy ounces gross including the bronze weight.
