The trophy with crest to center of body and situated between two inscriptions SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO and SANTA ANITA PARK with two vertical C-scroll handles and raised on spreading fluted foot.
Now in its 85th year, the annual San Juan Capistrano Stakes is an American Thoroughbred horse race run on turf and held in June at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. Established in 1935, the Grade III race is open to horses four years old and older and is thought to be the most significant race for older horses. The race serves as Santa Anita Park's closing-day event and offers a purse of $100,000. At approximately 1-3/4 mile in length, it is one of the longest grass races held in America.
