    The pitcher in undulating gourd form, chased arabesque scrolling to rim, lobed body with repoussé acanthus leaf embellishments to base, front monogrammed FES, underside engraved June 11th 1889. Retailed by Theodore B. Starr, New York, New York.

    The monogram FES is for Florence Elizabeth Slocum who married Henry Peoble Kingsbury on June 11, 1889. Elizabeth was the daughter of Civil War General Henry Warner Slocum. Accompanying this lot is a period photograph of Florence in her wedding gown.

    Condition Report*: Scuffing to underside, light pin dents to rim to underside, some nicks to lip, otherwise good condition with surface scratches commensurate with age, polishing and use.
