Hennig Koppel had a vision to create the definitive pitcher. He was initially inspired by Johan Rohde's Pitcher 432A, seen earlier in the catalogue, with flowing lines and a smooth, unadorned surface. In response, he created a number of pitchers with swelling forms, long attenuated necks, and handles that swoop above the spout. One can imagine how he developed the form in drawing after drawing of circle upon circle, attenuating, lightening and exaggerating the curves. Among his exceptional works are the Swan Pitcher and the Pregnant Duck Pitcher, Koppels' most popular piece of hollowware.
