Morphy Auctions, Fine and Decorative Arts Sale, December, 2018, #1294.

The Last of the Mohican themed covered trophy, waisted trumpet-form lid with golf ball-form finial atop oak leaf ring, over raised inscription on stippled band FENIMORE COUNTRY CLUB; urn-form cup in same manner reading SAMUEL KRONSKY CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY, enameled crest featuring Native American and frontiersman imagery above banner reading FENIMORE COUNTRY CLUB, ring of chased repoussé oak leaf and acorn motif circles bottom of cup, resting on stepped base with chased acid etched golf course scene, sitting upon base are two cast figures of the hunter and scout Hawkeye and Uncas, the last member of his tribe.

The Fenimore country Club was named in honor of James Fenimore Cooper, who had relocated to the Scarsdale area a century prior to its founding in 1924. Known for his famous Leatherstocking Tales pentalogy, of which The Last of the Mohicans is the second installment, the Samuel Kronsky Championship Trophy was commissioned by the Fenimore Country Club, referencing this well-known tale. This championship took place one year before the club's reemergence in 1936 as Fenway Country Club. Fenway Country Club in Scarsdale, New York, remains one of the most popular and esteemed golf courses in the United States.
