    The service with Egyptian Revival motifs throughout comprising teapot, open creamer, sugar basket, and waste bowl, bodies of vessels with conforming bright-cut decoration each monogrammed ELC, raised on circular bases with conforming winged sphinx feet, masks and medallions to rims of open sugar, wastebowl, and shoulder of teapot, handled vessels with figurehead thumbmounts, teapot surmounted by prone winged sphinx.
    Teapot is marked to underside with retailer STARR & MARCUS, New York, New York.

    A similar set, also retailed by Starr and Marcus, resides in the permanent collection of the Dallas Museum of Art and is illustrated on pg. 45 in Charles Venable's Silver in America, 1840-1940: A Century of Splendor.

    Condition Report*: Dent to sugar basket near engraving, sugar basket almost sits flush, light scratches to interior of wastebowl, shallow pin dents to teapot, some marks from wheel polishing, otherwise good condition with surface scratches commensurate with age, polishing and use.
