This gold case is recorded as having been with Fabergé at the time of the confiscation of the firm's stock in 1918. It is listed at a value of 590 rubles. This design was a popular one, and Ulla Tillander-Godenhielm's "Fabergé, the Twilight Years", illustrates a design drawing published for this work on page 74, identified with inventory number 14740. Another directly related case in the McFerrin Collection, Houston, TX, (Coll. No. 33, illus "snowflake" p. 46)
