"In the late 1980s Indiana painted the imaged word on one side of a chunk of the Berlin Wall, and the word WALL on the other. Indiana was the only American artist invited by Cal Worthington, a former diplomatic analyst in Berlin, to paint one of the segments of the Wall that Worthington brought out of Berlin. The painted fragments were shown at the United States Art Expo in New York City in 1991." (See P. Elmowsky, "The Plaza, the Artist, and the Wall: The Forbes Report," Sunstorm Arts Magazine, October 1991, 13.)
