Titled on side: Danzatrice di Canova
Inscribed verso: Carrara
In the manner of Antonio Canova (Italian, 1757-1822) by a well-known follower, depicting the bust of a young dancer, her head turned to her left, her wavy hair bound in a high chignon, loose curls framing her face and the nape of her neck, crowned with a twisted fillet of flowers, on a socle base
Condition Report*:
Overall in good condition. Discoloration in the stone at her forehead. Internal cracking along the bridge and tip of her nose. Tiny chips along the edges of the bust and part of her chignon. Larger shallow chips along the bottom edge of the reverse. Surface wear and minor pitting throughout.
