    Mixed media on paper
    10 x 8.25 in. (sheet, largest)

These illustrations were used as trial book jackets for the anthology The Golden Apples of the Sun, by Ray Bradbury, Doubleday, New York, 1953. None of these four illustrations were ever published. The first pictured book jacket in yellow includes a small piece of paper attached verso typed "Third choice for jacket," and the fourth pictured book jacket in dark blue is written in watercolor verso saying "Choice No. Four."

The story illustrations depict two of the stories from the anthology, "The Garbage Collector" and "Embroidery."

Story illustrations: Slight paper discoloration; tiny pieces of tape on corner edges; one minor paper crease; otherwise no visible condition issues.
