The final version of the present work is published as the cover of The Alejandra Variations by Paul Cook (Ace, 1984) with visible differences in the approach of the background, positioning of the boats, and addition of figure's on a stepped plinth. The present work bears publishing marks that indicated this was James Gurney's "Sketch #2" for the book.
