    This painting was previously published as the cover of the May 1944 issue of Hollywood Detective and was subsequently over-painted to a significant degree for its usage as the cover for the September 1945 issue of Private Detective Stories. It is not known whether this over-painting was performed by the artist himself or a production artist working for the publisher.


    Condition Report*:

    Minor abrasion on the lower left hand corner/extreme edge; light abrasions on the bottom right extreme edge; stretcher creases faintly visible; UV examination reveals no in-painting. Very good condition. Framed to an overall size of 33.25 x 24.25 inches.
