A popular mainstream illustrator for magazines such as The Saturday Evening Post, and best remembered for his retro-futuristic covers for Scientific American, here Edgar Franklin Wittmack created a rugged and dramatic Western image which appeared on the cover of the July 1928 issue of the popular pulp magazine Short Stories.
