An Austrian-born painter and etcher, Luigi Kasimir studied at the prestigious Vienna Academy of Art where his teacher William Unger introduced him to the technique of color etching. Rather than apply color to the print, Kasimir pioneered a new method by which he transferred a pastel-drawn design in color onto several plates that were then printed.
