This woodcut is stylistically indebted to earlier treatments of the same subject by German printmakers Albrecht Durer (1471-1528) in circa 1496, and notably, Hans Burgkmair the Elder (1473-1531) in 1515. A faint pencil inscription on verso appears to read Scheech.
