    Signed in the plate by artist and engraver, respectively: Antonius Wierinx / Ft. lower right; Eduardus ab hoeswinkel / exc. lower left.
    Inscribed in Polish on cardboard backing of the frame: Kup. u. Kraków od p. Pancyrka ul. Piotra Michalowskiego in 1928 v. . bez. ramek (Purchased in Krakow from Mr. Pancyrk at Piotr Michalowski street in 1928, without frame [crossed out]. No frame.) Additionally a typed label verso in Polish identifies the print by artist and generically as a "mythological scene."

    Acquired in 1928 in Crakow, Poland by a previous owner (per note verso).

    Louis Joseph Alvin, Catalogue raisonne de l'oeuvre des trois freres Wierix, 1866, Brussels, listed as one of the suite of four prints forming "The Four Elements" nos. 1473-1477, pp. 295-6.
