LITERATURE:
J. Schiller, D. M. David, Maurice Sendak: A Celebration of the Artist and His Work, New York, 2013, p. 154, illustrated (as Wild Thing).
"From early on his career, Maurice Sendak appreciated original graphics, and he gradually began collecting the art of great masters: Dürer, Rembrandt, Blake, Stubbs, the German Romantics, Samuel Palmer, Edward Calvert, Randolph Caldecott, William Nicholson, Félix Valloton, Winsor McCay, Disney, Léger, Chagall, and Picasso, among others.
"From 1977 until 1984 Sendak worked with master printmaker Kenneth Tyler of Tyler Graphics to learn the skills necessary to convert original drawings into multiples.... Tyler retired from printing and closed his studio in 2000. At this time, he uncovered a quantity of original prints by Sendak from the late 1970s through the early 1980s. These were returned to the artist, who signed them in 2002, often dating them '02' although they were printed earlier." (J. Schiller and D. M. David, Maurice Sendak: A Celebration of the Artist and His Work, New York, 2013, p. 151)
