Satirically depicting armed soldiers surreptitiously painting a blood-red peace sign as participants in the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, CND Soldiers points out, in Banksy's characteristically sly voice, how militarism is defined as the only way to harmony. The image first appeared opposite the Houses of Parliament during an antiwar demonstration, and then had a second life in Mark Wallinger's Tate show "State Britain." Since his origin, Banksy has often used his art to proselytize anti-war sentiment.
