After two years of sold-out performances in London's West End, The Phantom of the Opera opened on Broadway at the Majestic Theatre on January 9, 1988. The musical marked Michael Crawford's first return to Broadway more than 20 years after his debut. The show also starred Sarah Brightman as Christine, with Judy Kaye as Christine's nemesis, Carlotta.

The Phantom of the Opera was nominated for 10 Tony Awards and won seven, including Best Musical and acting awards for both Crawford and Kaye. It officially became Broadway's longest-running musical on January 9, 2006 and is still going strong after more than 13,000 performances.

This sketch by legendary artist Al Hirschfeld features Crawford as The Phantom. The sketch was commissioned in 1996 and first appeared in print on October 15, 1996.

This giclée, part of an extremely limited edition, is printed on 15" x 18" hot press paper and has been generously autographed by Crawford.

The edition is numbered, includes the official Hirschfeld Foundation embossed seal and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity directly from the Al Hirschfeld Foundation.
