Late Horizon or Early Spanish-Colonial
    A.D. 1400 - 1600
    Camelid and cotton fibers
Length 58 in. Width 48 in.

The principal color of this tunic is a deep cochineal red. Set symmetrically to each side at the position of the outer torso limits are bands of four contiguous units of narrow vertical stripes in green, dusky pink, dark blue, and the same deep cochineal red. Beyond these at each side is a wider band of natural brown followed by an equal-sized band of the cochineal red. A narrow green band terminates each edge. Woven into this principal tunic body at the bottom borders is a continuous five-and-one-half inch wide band of alternating seven-eighths inch vertical stripes of natural dark brown and white. This ends in a single horizontal small-scale chevron band of the same two colors with its points moving from the outer edge to meet at the center. Below this is a brown and white fringe of roughly thirteen-and-one-half inches, each change of color marked by a twisted fringe element combining brown and white. The condition generally is good, with a few losses and minor staining.
